ClubStar Learns Hair Extensions

Thursday, 12 April 2018 14:03

The ClubStar Art Team got together recently at Griffins, in Barnt Green, Worcestershire, for a day with Michelle Griffin, hair extension expert and one of the industry’s top educators.

The theme for the day was festival hair and of course, hair extensions. As well as going through how these two things marry up perfectly, Michelle also talked the team through her career so far. “What I loved about Michelle’s career story is how she has come full circle,”explains team member Jo Pacey from KH Hair,“She now owns the salon she first started in, after buying it at the age of just 22! From then to now, Michelle has built her business, won multiple artistic awards and has launched her own extensions line which has taken her around the world. She truly inspired us all with her story.”

Getting down to business, Michelle showed the team how to use tape extensions in a fringe to add colour and texture, demonstrating how simple, quick and effective they can be if you’re limited on what you can do to a model’s hair in a show or shoot situation. The afternoon was spent putting their new-found knowledge into practice on dolls heads, playing and experimenting with various tape in extensions and learning how the best cutting techniques when blending them with the styling. “Our day with Michelle was amazing,” continues Jo, “She is so passionate about passing on her knowledge and that really shows in the way she works. I’ve definitely taken a lot away from the day and I can’t wait to start using tape extensions in my future work.”
