Colour Night is another huge success!

On Monday 4th July the Toni&Guy London Academy welcomed our annual Colour Night with a line-up of incredible talent who specialise in colour. Compere for the night was our Past President Mark Creed who very kindly stepped in for Edward Hemmings.

Two groups took to the stage to showcase their techniques with Sean Nolan from HOB; Karine Jackson from Karine Jackson Hair & Beauty; Siobhan Golden from Toni&Guy and Chris Williams from Rush being introduced first.

Sean Nolan showcased just why he is a technical Art Team member for HOB with his look inspired by brands like Tom Ford and The Kooples. Karine Jackson demonstrated a “colour swirl” technique with beautiful pink and blonde tones that when styled out would create a really soft finish. It was a familiar stage for Siobhan Golden from Toni&Guy who used a shadow root technique working with the current grey trend, while using a triangular section to enhance the fringe for a real focal point. Next year’s Colour Project leader and Rush colour extraordinaire Chris Williams worked an apricot base throughout the haircut before drifting it into a yellow through the extended hair cut lengths.

While on stage Mark was able to capture exactly what makes these four industry experts, while also finding out their future colour predictions which including ‘golden roses’ and ‘metallic shades’.

As all the colours were being demonstrated live to the audience it was then an opportunity to prepare their models backstage and the next four experts were introduced by Mark.

Introduced to the excited sold out crowd were Ceri Cushen from Metropolis; Sam Millard from Peter Prosser; JC from Guy Kremer and Gareth Williams from Headmasters.

First up was Ceri Cushen with her beautiful pink tone that was applied to wet hair with a similarity to that of a tinted moisturiser. Sam Millard chose a cool colour palette using a root drag technique to apply the colour. There was a juxtaposition of warm and cool tones from Gareth Williams as he used a mixture of colour palettes to infuse the overall textures and create a stunning finish. JC created a salon friendly look that he described as “punchy” with coppers and golds intensifying the overall look.

While the groups were backstage styling their models ready for their finale Colour Project Leader Michelle Griffin was joined by Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year Andy Heasman from Rush for the special guest interview. This year has been a particular highlight for him and that included being announced as Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year at our prestigious Luncheon & Awards. He was then joined on stage by Chris Williams who reinstated how well they all work together as a team before describing Andy as “one of my hair heroes”.

The evening ended with Mark welcoming all the fantastic colour experts back to the stage.
