Wood & Light Shades: Ideas for Your Salon Refit

Wednesday, 14 November 2018 14:55

If you are thinking about what styles to select for your salon, take into consideration lighter colours. Often considered of little effect and a bit boring, when combined with warm and cosy materials like wood, they acquire a refined note.

It will never go out of fashion. The combination of wood and light colours is convincing, timeless, and elegant. And it is perfect for places linked to beauty because they work well when it comes to conveying two important concepts: the idea of well-being and the sensation of exclusiveness. The spaces that choose this style are usually ample, furnished with a few elements, but of great character. It is interesting to observe the interpretations of this combination in international hair salons.

1. AFFECTION HAIR SALON

In Istanbul, Affection Hair Salon chose to put wood with another noble material, marble. In this way the sensation of a sumptuous setting is emphasises on one hand by the precious flooring and on the other by the use of wood for the made-to-measure furnishing: a partition in a sinuous shape, a display that becomes a focal point of the technical zone, the glossy reception desk shines with a lacquer finish. The overall atmosphere is lightened by pale hues on the walls, work surfaces, and lighting. The final result is balanced but not empty.

2. CHRISTIAN GILLES LA GARENNE-COLOMBES

Warm materials, light colours, rounded shapes, massage armchairs, everything is designed for a reason in  Christian Gilles brand salons: for a stimulating experience and well-being. With 12 addresses in the heart of Paris or in the immediate outskirts, like that of La Garenne-Colombes, where the combination of wood and light hues is almost total, with the exclusion of the washing stations and a few other dark elements. The grain of the wood highlights the rhythm of the work stations, cupboards and displays, while the light colour the floor and walls makes the setting look even bigger.

3. ECCO SALON

The addition of acid tones like yellow and green interpret the combination of light colours and wood in an original key. Ecco Salon in Fitchburg, Massachusetts is like a temple of well-being and relaxation where everything is where it should be. Here wood plays a leading role in the floor, which is enhanced with other furnishing and the illusion of a wall that conceptually separates the washing zone from the technical zone. Wood grains play a role in orientation and in giving visual order to the overall setting.

4. NEW HAIRSTYLE

In Spakenburg, in the province of Utrecht, the  New Hairstyle salon manifests a more elegant and glamorous aspect of wood. In this spacious salon the wooden floors installed in a herring-bone pattern embellish and define the rhythm, becoming a decorative motif of yesteryear. Combined with the leather divans in the waiting are and the work stations in the technical zone, the overall effect is warm and luxurious. Dark colours on the partitions and washing stations enhance the sensation of an intimate and cosy ambience.

5. YILDIRIM OZDEMIR HAIR DESIGN

The charm of raw materials. This variation is proposed by Yildirim Ozdemir Hair Design in İzmir, in Turkey. The large table that hosts the technical stations is made in solid, unfinished wood, giving a raw senstions but also natural, that nicely offsets the cement and dark metal used for the other furnishings.. The atmosphere is not industrial however, but rather oozes attention to detail and an unconventional aesthetic taste.
