RUSH Live 2015

Wednesday, 21 October 2015 09:03

Rush Hair put on a spectacular show and this year’s Rush Live - the group's annual fundraising event in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital. The 2015 show experienced a change of venue - the Excel Exhibition Centre - strategically held over the course of Salon International weekend.

Rush Hair, Co-Founder, Stell Andrew kicked off the event in true Rush style, taking to the stage to thank the sponsors of the annual fundraising event before inviting a representative from Great Ormond Street Hospital on to the stage to explain how the valuable amounts raised from Rush Live go to help the children and families at GOSH.

Stell invited the entire audience to participate in the ‘Rush Wave’ with the Directors of Rush Hair donating £1,000 to the charity for every wave completed, totalling £3,000. Along with a further £7,000 raised on the evening, Rush has donated over £122,000 to the GOSH Hairaising campaign since it launched five years ago.

A video introduced the first collection before Rush Hair International Creative Director, Andy Heasman and International Colour Director, Chris Williams were welcomed on to the stage by the delighted audience to present their Graphic Collection featuring edgy geometric cuts, strong lines, vibrant shades and contrasting textures.

Next on to the stage was the Rush Hair Artistic Team and Workshop Team with Education Director, Paola Pinto, and Artistic Team members Seung-Ki Baek, Dale Herne and Workshop Team members Ben Russell, Cameron Byrne and Alex Hardy showcasing the latest cutting techniques on stage, describing how these techniques were specifically chosen to compliment the graffiti inspired tones demonstrated by the Colour Team. A special mention was given to Rush Workshop Team Member, Ryan Humpage who presented his model on stage for the first time.

Rush Hair Editorial Director Tina Farey took to the stage with the Rush Hair Session Team including Jamie Benny, Sophie Chandler and James Oxley to showcase their Neo-Tapestry Collection, featuring neon threads and tapestry wools sewn through fishtail braids and basket weaves to create a stand out tapestry effect inspired by the textile art but with a modern, futuristic twist.

"Rush Live is always about raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital as well as sharing ideas and showing people the way we do things at Rush," commented Stell after the show. "We’re delighted that the audience loved the show as much as we enjoyed putting it together. We even managed to raise over £10,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital in the process!"
