Project X get theoretical with Paul Falltrick

Wednesday, 27 April 2016 07:04

On Monday 18th April the Project X Team made their way to Options Hairdressing in Essex for a day with Paul Falltrick.

Before introducing his own story, Paul started the day by saying “he wouldn't be able to change anyone's hairdressing in just one day but he will be able to change a mind-set”. This was certainly a thinking point and left everyone excited to find out exactly what Paul had instore for them. It was then a chance to hear just how he has got to where he is today, including how is he is now considered one of the most travelled hairdresser in the UK.

Next up was a chance to hear everyone’s own background and really find out what they do within their own working environments. By simply asking why they do things a certain way it got everyone thinking and understanding the importance of learning the theory behind their body positioning and the various scissor shapes available. Moving on from this he demonstrated how he would cut a section before encouraging the team do replicate just what he had done.

After a lunchbreak it was then an opportunity to present their own moodboard which had been based around clashing architecture in relation to haircuts and structure. After Paul gave further tips on how to get the most out of a presentation, he then reflected on the Leonard Lewis theory which was how he was originally taught. To finish the day the Project X Team worked with all the theories together with their own personalisation.

Ashleigh Hodges, Project X Leader, said 'It was such a brilliant day, The Project X Team had the chance to really think about their foundations and question why they do certain things. A great way to start their cutting for the year off and opening their minds up. Paul is such an inspiration and they all went home full of ideas and wanting to research and question everything.'

Ben Brown, from Ben Brown Hair, said "What an amazing day with Paul Falltrick! He was so inspiring and it was incredible being able to learn real precision techniques and different hairdressing systems. The afternoon was so interactive and we all got a chance to really develop what we already knew. Thank you to everyone!"

The next date for the Project X Team is a day with Sam Burnett at Goldwell in London on Thursday 19th May.
