Sophie Freegard excels on a Bridal Styling Course

Tuesday, 03 May 2016 07:05

Sophie Freegard continued her Step Up & Shine Scholarship journey on Monday 25th April as she got confident in bridal styling with Yesmin O’Brien at the ghd studio in London.

The penultimate date on her bespoke education journey started with a demonstration from Yesmin into how she creates stunning looks in short time constraints. She conveyed different looks and a variety of ways to achieve the finished styles compensating for hair type and length.

After lunch Sophie got the chance to put these skills into practice with Yesmin on hand to provide any extra tips and advice. Her first look was a hair up taking only ten minutes with just one ribbon to hold everything in place. A first for Sophie who had always used clips or grips in the past.

The second look was a chance for Sophie to work on her plaiting and knotting techniques and with Yesmin’s guidance Sophie was able to complete the style in just fifteen minutes. This really was a chance for her to get confident in this aspect of hairdressing, while also learning how to be effective with her own time management within the salon.

Sophie Freegard, from Tops Hair Salon and Beauty in Melksham, said “I was so excited to attend this course and was incredible grateful to have the opportunity to work with Yesmin O’Brien. She is a real inspiration to me and I couldn’t wait to learn from her! I love doing hair up within the salon and I wanted to really learn some new skills and I wasn’t disappointed! I certainly went outside the box and I cannot wait to tell everyone in the salon just exactly what I learnt”
