Meet Cilesté Rogers our Scholarship winner

Friday, 12 August 2016 14:32

Back in June Scholarship applicants were invited to meet with a judging panel for an informal interview to get to know everyone who had applied.

Following an inspirational day meeting fantastic individuals, Cilesté Rogers from We Love Salons in Southsea was announced as the overall winner.

Awaiting her is an amazing scholarship with Sassoon Academy where she will benefit from a 4 week intensive course spread over a 4 month period to develop her existing skills. Today her Scholarship begins as she starts her first week at the Sassoon Academy in London so we took the time to get to know her better.

What is your job title in the salon and how long of you been in the industry for?
I started in the industry 6 years ago and I still love it just as much as I did then. It is a massive part of my life and I am really proud to say I am now WeLove Southsea Franchisee and Art Director.

What are you hoping to gain from the Scholarship?
Everything I can! I'm looking forward to seeing how my skills progress over the 4 weeks and then being about to take back all that I have learnt to my team. I don’t have to worry about travel costs because HJ have taken care of that for me so all I have worry about it absorbing as much education as I can and I cannot wait!

Why did you apply for the Scholarship?
I was so excited when I saw that The Fellowship was running this Scholarship. I love to take on new challenges and I love to be pushed to be the best I can be. This was an amazing opportunity that I definitely didn’t want to miss out on!

What was it like being in front of the judges?
I was really nervous on the day of the interview because of how much I wanted to be chosen, but after having a chat I didn’t actually want to leave the room. The judges made me feel so comfortable and it wasn’t scary at all.

What are you most excited about?
Learning from the industry’s best! I was also really excited about receiving my Denman tool roll. Honestly when it arrived it was like Christmas. I opened it so slowly so the moment would last as long as possible.

Tell us something about you we don't know
I have just launched a project called Inside Out which offers woman who are going through challenging times a free make over. I wanted to make them feel beautiful inside and out and I hope it will give them some extra happiness.

What do you think the Scholarship will do for you in the future?
The Scholarship is going to take me to the next level. It is a chance to apply the skills I learn both in and out of the salon so I can achieve my ultimate goals.
