A Day with Simon Tuckwell for Project X

Friday, 16 September 2016 14:08

It was an exciting day for The Project X Team on Monday 5th September as they were with ex F.A.M.E. Team member Simon Tuckwell.

As Art Director at Zullo & Holland he has had an interesting career to date, which he shared with everyone to get the morning started. His involvement with The F.A.M.E. Team holds a special place in his heart and he described this as a massive part of his hairdressing journey.

Following his introduction Simon then took the time to offer The Project X Team lots of tips and advice for their upcoming shows. He was able to really increase their confidence, while also offering lots of presentation skills that will help them throughout the rest of this year and onwards. His suggestions were derived from his own experience, as well as taking factors from everyone’s mood boards that were based around what they want to do on stage for their slot at Salon International.

After a quick bite to eat, The Project X Team were back at the Zullo & Holland Academy for an opportunity to work on their own mannequin heads. Simon was able to show them lots of key cutting techniques, plus a different way of approaching the hair. With Salon International at the forefront of The Team’s mind, Simon ensured he covered all aspects of making an impact on stage and this included working with tape extensions to enhance their finished looks.

Simon Tuckwell, Art Director at Zullo & Holland, said "I was honoured to be asked by Project X Leader Ashleigh Hodges to spend the day with The Project X Team. Being given the chance to share and give back something to The Fellowship was so rewarding. Their energy was brilliant and they are so inspired to learn! What a fantastically talented team of hairdressers and I can't wait to see them wow the crowd at Salon International!"

Ludmilla Kurockina, Ludmilla Salon, said “Simon Tuckwell is one of industry's exciting talent! It was amazing to get to know his own journey and how he got to where he is today. He certainly knows how to inspire creativity in hairdressers and he showed us some amazing techniques which we can take back to the salon and use in upcoming stage shows. We had an amazing day and we even got to work with tape extensions alongside Simon’s expertise. Another brilliant day for us!

Next stop for The Project X Team is Salon International in October and they are busy preparing everything for their stage show.
