Trevor Sorbie Wins HABB Humanitarian Award

Tuesday, 01 May 2012 15:34

On 23rd April 2012 at Fulham's Hurlingham Club, the Fellowship of British Hairdressing President's Night in association with HABB Awards, Trevor Sorbie was honoured with the HABB Humanitarian Award

Trevor Sorbie's charity, My New Hair is completely non-profit where Sorbie and his dedicated team of 200 professional hairdressers offer life-changing advice, and a free personalised wig-customisation service for women who lose their hair through medical reasons. Sorbie has worked very closely with several NHS hospices and hospitals in hope to greatly improve the quality of wigs issued to patients, to whom beautiful and natural looking hair is a large part of their personality and femininity.

Upon accepting this well deserved award, Sorbie commented: "I'm in the last chapter of my hairdressing career, but nothing has ever given me more satisfaction than my work with My New Hair… It has given me a whole new dimension to job satisfaction, using my skills to give something back to society and do something truly meaningful, it isn't about hair, its psychological medicine for women who are suffering hair loss through illness." Trevor Sorbie is working tirelessly with the aim to expand the charity of sending up to 400 trained specialists to deliver the service to healthcare environments and salons all over the country.

The event, which was hosted by Mark Creed (The President of Fellowship) is collaborated with the Hair and Beauty Benevolent to recognise the most humanitarian members of the industry. The Benevolent is committed to providing past or serving members of both industries with help and support in times of crisis caused through illness or infirmity, and provides financial and personal support to professionals and young people.
