In Business leaves the audience wanting more

Friday, 30 September 2016 14:25

This year our business event was in London at the ghd studios in Soho for ‘In Business’. A fantastic line up awaited the sold out audience, plus a special guest interview, with all proceeds going to The Hairdressers Charity.

Edward Hemmings was the compere for the night and, after welcoming everyone to what promised to be “a great evening”, he introduced industry icon Lee Stafford for his special guest interview.

It was a wonderful interview with Lee fondly describing his mother’s influence in his decision to start a career in hairdressing. His own personality was evident throughout, with him stating that he has to be one of the only youngsters who went to every interview with his mother at the start.

Lee’s career spans decades and he reflected on his involvement with other salons as he developed his skills, before at 22 years old he opened his own salon.

His celebrity hairdressing background is one that started with GMTV, before he went on to work on numerous shows resulting in him even meeting his wife. He ended with “Never done a day’s work in my life and I have always been content and happy in what I do”.

It was then a perfect time for everyone to take a quick break for some refreshments and networking. A chance for everyone to have a chat and reflect on the event so far.

Edward Hemmings then returned to the stage to welcome our panel of industry experts for a question and answer session with the audience. Clive Collins from HOB Salons; Michelle Griffin from Griffins Salon and Louise Wood from LWPR joined him on stage for this opportunity. It was a brilliant session and covered topics in recruitment, social media and discounting. A lively debate followed with the whole audience ending the night wanting more!

Edward Hemmings, Business Education Manager, said “This was the second event of this format and what a huge success it was. It was fascinating to hear from Lee Stafford about his amazing career. You couldn’t help but be inspired by his personal and professional stories from such an industry icon. It was lovely to be able to meet so many of the guests over a quick drink before a fantastic question and answer session with three top professionals in their fields. We made sure we covered all aspects including education, franchising and PR. A great night with all ticket proceeds going to The Hairdressers Charity”
