Meet The F.A.M.E. Team 2017

Friday, 23 December 2016 10:34

On Monday 8 excited finalists arrived at The Dorchester in the hope of being selected as The F.A.M.E. Team 2017.

The Luncheon & Awards was the perfect place to announce the talented four and we caught up with Gavin, James, Jordanna and Ria to find out a little more about them:

What is your job title in the salon?
Gavin: Director/Salon Owner at G&E McIntyres
James: Creative Director at The Francesco Group
Jordanna: Creative Director at Cobella
Ria: Managing Artistic Director at The Hairbank

What is your favourite part of your job?
Gavin: I love the creative aspect of what I do. It allows me to be expressive and create an extension of myself through hair. Being able to put a smile on people’s faces and inspiring the young hairdressers of tomorrow is something I feel very lucky to be a part of!
James: I love everything about my job! I especially love creating editorial hair; experimenting with different textures, colour and shapes while also keeping it beautiful. To be able to work on stage gives me such a buzz and is really quite addictive
Jordanna: Working with so many different people every day is so rewarding, as well as having the opportunity to manage the creative and business aspects of the salon. My favourite part is definitely photoshoots, but I also love precision cutting and men’s hair
Ria: As a colour and cutting specialist I am equally passionate about my work on both photoshoots, as well as in the salon with my clients. I love being creative and knowing that every day of the week can be so different. That is why I love the industry!

What does being part of The F.A.M.E. Team mean to you?
Gavin: The F.A.M.E Team is an achievement I have been chasing for a few years. It means I've hit an absolute pinnacle of my career. I remember seeing The F.A.M.E. Team 2011 and 2012 and thinking WOW that's what I want to aim for! Achieving it after all the time and preparation it's taken means an awful lot to me
James: It means standing out as an up and coming talent within the industry and I cannot wait! I am going to learn so much and grow my knowledge alongside the rest of the team
Jordanna: It means the absolute world to me! I am over the moon to have been selected. I am so passionate about education and have such a thirst to learn that this is the perfect chance for me to discover so much more and inspire others
Ria: It means the world to me! I feel so proud to be one of the four hairdressers chosen for this amazing opportunity. It is such an honour and privilege to work with the absolute best in the industry. I am one lucky girl

How did you feel when your name was announced at The Luncheon & Awards?
Gavin: I was the final person to be called and I had lost a little bit of hope in being chosen, but when Bruno said my name I couldn’t believe it. The relief of the hard work paying off, as well as a dream coming true, certainly got the better of me and my emotions. The opportunity to work alongside everyone I am going to is so exciting
James: It felt amazing! The process to get into The F.A.M.E. Team is such a long one and it is great that is has paid off! When I found out Nick Irwin is also going to be our Project Leader I was over the moon!
Jordanna: I was shocked, ecstatic and overwhelmed – all at the same time!
Ria: I felt overwhelmed, shocked and happy with all those emotions turning to excitement when I found out I had made The F.A.M.E. Team!

How are you feeling about next year?
Gavin: I definitely know to expect hard work but I cannot wait to grow both individually and as a team. The thought of continuing the reputation of this prestigious team is something I will definitely make the most of. I anticipate a rollercoaster of excitement, thrills and inspiration and I hope that young hairdressers will be inspired from watching us – just like I was many years ago!
James: I just want to learn and experience as much as possible. I know the year is going to go by so fast so I am going to take advantage of everything!
Jordanna: I think it is going to be so much fun, while also being fast paced and full on. It will definitely be a huge learning curve for me and I feel so privileged to be working alongside James, Gavin and Ria. I have to admit we are all a bit star struck by our Project Leader being Nick Irwin. Bring it on!
Ria:2017 is going to be one big adventure and I cannot wait to get started. We are going to get the chance to meet amazing people along the way and I know I will make three really good friends. I am so excited to see us all develop together and inspire each other

Congratulations from all of us at The Fellowship and we look forward to sharing their journey with you throughout 2017!
