Following a huge amount of entries this year from across the globe, Fudge Professional is pleased to announce the winner of its Mixology Master 2017 competition as Maria Råberg from Uniklipp AS salon in Norway.

Although only in its second year, Mixology Master has really taken off as a colour competition, generating considerable global interest thanks to huge engagement on social media. Entrants were asked to submit a 'before' and 'after' image, as well as technical instructions on how it was created. This year’s entries were of incredibly high standards, but the judges all commented on Maria’s bold and vivacious look, creative use of formula, and commitment to the Anti-Ordinary.

As the Fudge Professional Mixology Master 2017, Maria Råberg will be flown to Milan to assist on the photoshoot for Fudge Professional’s 2018 colour collection, with global hairdressing legends X-presion creative team and Fudge Professional Global Head of Technical Education, Tracy Hayes, in association with Estetica. Judges for the Mixology Master competition included the X-presion creative team, PR guru Samantha Grocutt from Essence PR, editor of Estetica UK, Gary Kelly, worldwide hairdressing legends Mazella&Palmer, award-winning stylist Lisa Farrall, Head of Education of Fudge Professional Italy Marco Cenedese, and Mixology Master 2016 winner, Janica Ström.

“Wow, this is crazy!" exclaimed a very excited Maria on learning of her success. "Thank you so much for selecting my image.  I feel so honoured to win something big like this, by just doing what sets my heart and soul on fire.  I want to say a huge thank you to Fudge Professional for making it possible for colourists to play and share their work worldwide like this. I can’t wait for Milan!”  Tracy Hayes, Global Head of Technical Education, added: “Here at Fudge Professional we love risk-takers and colourists who aren’t afraid to push the boundaries.  This entry really stood out as being a fresh new colour to add to the Fudge Professional colour palette: vibrant, young and unexpected. The judges commented how they loved that the technique wasn’t obvious but featured gentle, hidden tonal colours appearing in the movement of the hair.  It’s very Fudge!" Editor of Estetica UK and Mixology Master 2017 judge, Gary Kelly, was also extremely impressed by Maria's work:  "All the shortlisted  finalists this year created some really eye-catching colour work, however Maria's transformation really shone through. I was particularly drawn to how she has made created a suble, yet maverick colour combinations really work: this conveys her courage and self-belief in what she was striving to achieve. She also ensured there was a sleek finish on the hair by ensuring that it was properly conditioned, helping to enhance the beautiful effect of her colour creatively and exceptional skills."
