Coloured Soul's Charity Football Match for Shaping Futures

Wednesday, 11 October 2017 15:01

Schwarzkopf Professional Shaping Futures volunteers Rhys Davidson and Gemma Slade of Coloured Soul held a charity football match this week to raise money for Shaping Futures.

The match took place at Thomson Park in Dundee and was the salon's third charity football match. Ex Dundee FC players took on ex Tayport FC Scottish Cup winners for an incredible day of fun, football and fundraising donations!

Rhys Davidson, owner of Coloured Soul said: “The charity football match was absolutely fantastic, it couldn’t have gone better! A huge thank you to all the players for turning out for this cause. It was a day to remember for everyone involved. A huge thank you to everyone who spectated and donated to Shaping Futures. We raised over £2,000 for the initiative which is amazing – roll on our trip to India!”

Rhys and Gemma are heading to Mumbai this week to teach disadvantaged young adults the art of hairdressing. The skills, confidence and techniques they will teach, enable students to get a job in a large hairdressing chain in India so they can earn a living. Many previous students have gone on to run their own salons, employing a dedicated team and passing on their knowledge from the Shaping Futures programme.

Now in its seventh year, Shaping Futures has welcome volunteers from across the UK to teach in India. The money raised at Coloured Soul’s charity football match will go towards buying the students kits and supplies for their hairdressing journey.
