Angelo Seminara in the Live Lounge

Tuesday, 27 March 2018 08:29

The one and only Angelo Seminara headlined the Fellowship’s latest event in London, Hair & Vision at Sway in London, taking the hot seat in the new Live Lounge.

The Fellowship’s Live Lounge made its highly anticipated comeback on the evening, after taking shape for the first time at Pro Hair Live back in February. It’s a new interview concept with a behind-the-scenes feel and many famous names will be taking a seat to share their secrets and stories to the audience and Facebook Live on-lookers at events throughout the year and beyond.

The latest subject was Angelo Seminara, interviewed by President Karine Jackson to a sell-out audience. They began from the start, with tales from Angelo’s first ever job in London at Trevor Sorbie in Covent Garden, which he revealed was one of the best experiences of his life.

“I worked at Trevor Sorbie for around 15 years,” said Angelo, “I got so much out of that job; I loved the work, the company and the people there. Trevor Sorbie was more than just a salon for me; it was a little family that I found in London.”
When quizzed about moving to London, Angelo admitted it had always been a dream of his. “I grew up in a small town in Southern Italy, where everyone knows each other. I didn’t really see a future there unless I was going to become a fisherman!” said Angelo, “To explore my craft, I wanted to come to London. The UK has always been at the forefront of the hairdressing world, with the likes of Vidal Sassoon and Raymond Bessone.”

He went on to share funny stories about his early days in hairdressing, including one client’s mousse-heavy blow-dry that lasted a month and a half, and talked about how everything in the world of nature fuels the majority of his inspiration and creations.

“I have a special observation for nature,” he explained, “I am a very curious person, so when I look at something, I spend a little longer and really study it. This way, you’re sure to find things about it that you can explore in your work.”

He closed the evening with a model presentation, showcasing a graphic but wearable colour technique inspired by optical illusion artist Bridget Riley.
