F.A.M.E. Awaits

Thursday, 18 October 2018 09:51

The finalists for the F.A.M.E. Team 2019 undertook auditions live on stage at Salon International 2018.

The F.A.M.E. Team is the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s ultimate finishing school for hairdressers – a yearlong mentoring program for hairstylists under 35, providing them with opportunities, exposure and plenty of education from some of the most inspiring names in hairdressing.

This year’s team, under the mentorship of Nick Irwin, have been to Australia to present at Hair Expo, worked at Paris Fashion Week with Eugene Souleiman and shot with photographer Rankin – as well as countless sessions with generous mentors in all areas of hairdressing.

The process of finding the 2019 team is now coming to a close, with eight young stylists taking part in the final steps of the application process live on stage at Salon International. The stylists were tasked with completing a hair-up look on stage, live in front of the audience and a panel of judges – in just 20 minutes, before presenting a finished model look with a short presentation about their inspiration and personal style.

For all eight, it was an opportunity to show off their technical skills, creativity and concepts – as well as start practising the presentation skills which will be put to the test extensively during their time on the team, should they make the grade.

Having now faced the final step of the application process, the eight stylists must now wait for the Fellowship Luncheon on Monday 3 December, when the four successful stylists will be announced – and make the first steps in their life-changing year of F.A.M.E.

The final eight are:

Brandon Messinger, Zullo & Holland
Alastair Jubbs, VAE Hair
Ashley Cockrell, Percy & Reed
Casey  Coleman, Chair Salons
Lora Griffin, Simon Webster Hair
Kelsey Franklin, Sarai Hair and Beauty
Poonam Mehmi, RUSH Westbourne Grove
Tania Faenza, Toni & Guy Canary Wharf
