American Crew Celebrates 25 Years as a Defining Brand for Male Grooming

In celebration of the brand's milestone anniversary, David Raccuglia Founder of American Crew, came to London earlier this month to participate in a head-to-head with Paul Sculfor first male supermodel, whose iconic look was a defining element in creating the brand's identity.

Hosted by Lee Kynaston, Grooming Guru and acclaimed men’s grooming and fashion journalist, the meet took place at the exclusive Century Private Members Club in London's Soho. Lee expertly set the scene taking guests back in time to when Oasis just launched their debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’, Kurt Cobain passed away and Nelson Mandala was released.  

Guests were then taken through the incredible journey American Crew has been on over the last 25 years through the David's eyes, how in 1994,  American Crew came on the scene with the iconic American Crew Fiber exploding onto the market and changed the men’s hair landscape forever. American Crew Fiber remains American Crew’s number one best-selling product worldwide. 

The conversation then moved on to explore Paul Sculfor’s journey with the American Crew. Paul Sculfor met David Raccuglia before his career took off on Paul’s first trip to L.A.  David cut his hair and shot him for his new men’s product range he was about to launch (American Crew). This meeting was the start of a life-long collaboration shooting over 12 American Crew campaigns together. 

American Crew went on to become the world’s leader in Men’s Grooming and Paul’s career built simultaneously as he shot huge and iconic campaigns including Levi’s, Versace, Banana Republic, Christian Dior. He is now the world’s first male super model creating a lasting career in an industry that very rarely creates icons of their genre. However, Paul Sculfor’s image has been a lasting one, his particular blend of masculinity with a dash of British humour has made him one of the most wanted faces of the last quarter of a century.  Their story is epic from working from as an undiscovered face to the latest face of American Crew Acumen launching this year, spanning 25 years is a celebration of collaboration and friendship.
