Wednesday, 18 March 2020 11:34

With the goal of showing his team the endless possibilities available in the world of hairdressing, Barrie Stephen, Owner of Barrie Stephen Hair in Leicester, gathered his 50 plus strong team at the city’s New Walk Museum for a day of learning.

Led by some of the most coveted speakers in the hair business and beyond, including Gianni Scumaci and Sally Brooks, the Barrie Stephen Inspiration Day conveyed the key message that Success is achieved with two things - talent and effort.

The day began with an introduction from Barrie who demonstrated how hard work and resilience helped him to get where he is today. He reminded his team that they are custodians of the Barrie Stephen brand, and with passion and determination they too can achieve great things.

The infamous Gianni Scumaci then talked to the stylists about his incredible journey to become an internationally recognised name in the hairdressing and fashion world: “If I can do it, anyone can,” he said, reminding Barrie’s team of the significant social function of the hairdresser and how their talent can inspire trends and change perceptions.

Debbie Digby-Smith, CEO at Passion4Hair spoke about how young stylists can elevate their career with the right mindset and a deep desire to keep learning. And renowned life strategist, Damien Massias, showcased the impact social media on our self-esteem and mental health - asking the team to focus on making genuine connections with colleagues and clients to build fulfilling relationships.

Finally, the 2019 Fellowship for British Hairdressing Hairdresser of the Year, Sally Brooks took to the floor to show Barrie’s team how to keep striving for creative greatness in their everyday - creating their own fingerprint and using their talent to enhance the client experience.

Barrie Stephen said: “Our team events are usually centred around celebrating our salons’ success, and recognising individuals for their contribution, but this year I wanted to something slightly different. I don’t believe you can ever rest on your laurels in this business. Change is inevitable and I want my team to be motivated and prepared to strive for excellence as the hair and fashion industry evolves. United we can achieve both personal and collective success. The Inspiration Day was a great opportunity to bring together all team members from our five salons across Leicestershire, to reaffirm our common goals and vision for the business as well as the opportunity learn valuable lessons from those who have paved the way. I want to thank all our inspirational speakers for elevating us as a team, reminding us why where here and why we love what we do. I’m incredibly proud of the business’ achievements to date, all made possible by a fantastic team. Here’s to the next chapter!”
