Maarten Van De Horst AW12

Tuesday, 24 April 2012 16:23

Since the first line-up at Fashion East last season, Maarten Van De Horst is back again, continuing his focus on tailoring and feminine details and his signature flattering boxy silhouette.

The inspiration behind the collection, Maarten called it "boardroom, but not boring". With a colour palette of sky blue, white, a touch of black and bright pink, they are in the form of cigarette pants, boxy blazers, tuxedo playsuit, dress and shirts, all in satin or choice of soft fabric. Maarten has incorporated a variety of prints, may it be floral designs or stripe, the collection has provided a dainty of girlishness without being over masculine.

To complete the look, James Pecis interpreted the collection by placing the hair on the shoulders and to contrast, adding some soft Marcell waves to feature, bringing an interesting duality to the hair. Before styling, hair is prepared by using Bb Prep and Thickening Hairspray to create body and manageability. The hair was then side-parting into two pony tails, and each of them were backcombed before being places in a Zulu knot (aka Rope Plait). Finally, the top section of the hair was turned into Marcell waves using flattening irons and Does It All Styling Spray for hold with natural movement.

This collection has achieved a highly personal statement, it is distinctively aesthetic, technically advanced yet highly wearable.
