Get the Look: Meghan's Wedding Day Low Bun

Striking in its simplicity and charm, The Duchess of Sussex chose a loose, low bun for her big day. Shrouded in what billowed out into a 16-feet pure white silk wedding veil, Meghan's hair was a touch of informality which is symbolic of her natural, relaxed personality and style.

Crowned with Queen Mary’s 1932 diamond bandeau – loaned to the Duchess for the occasion by H.M. The Queen – Meghan's classic chignon looked absolutely stunning.  “On any wedding day, you want to ensure you feel relaxed and yourself,” comments Mark Woolley, founder of  Electric Hairdressing. Meghan often wears her hair up so it’s a look she’ll feel comfortable with.  Her veil and tiara works perfectly with a hair up and its traditional feel sets off her stunning Givenchy gown, created by British designer Clare Waight Keller, to a tee. The back of the hair is beautifully styled with lots of curls intricately pinned up. It’s a beautifully executed bridal hair up that is very fitting for the occasion.”

Simple, structured and elegant is the order of the day, for Mathew Soobroy, Principal Stylist at Charles Worthing Salons, who has  compiled this simple-to-follow, yet very effective step-by-step on how to recreate Meghan's hair look from the big day using L’Oréal Professionnel and Kérastase products: 

 

1. Prep the hair with Tecni.ART Pli volume spray and blow dry the hair to fall smooth;

2. Create a centre parting and section the front hairline out, backcombing at the crown to create volume;

3. Gather the rest into a low sleek ponytail and use Kerastase Therapiste serum to smooth;

4. Section the ponytail into 6 parts to create barrel curls and secure with pins;

5. Pull back the loose hair at the front and then pin gently around the bun so you get a super soft finish, framing the eyes and cheeks;

6. Spray with L’Oréal Professionnel Couture Carousel hairspray to give the firmness and create hold.
